SETH
WOODMANSTERNE
Managing Director, Woodmansterne Publications Ltd
Seth is the third generation to run Woodmansterne, joining in 2011, and taking over as MD in 2020 upon Paul's retirement to Chairman. First cutting his teeth in Production, Seth developed systems and processes that grew the department’s utilisation, delivery, quality and profitability, to become an industry leading outfit (Print Week Social Stationery Printer of the Year 2016 and 2017).
In 2019, Seth led a total sales and marketing campaign to increase the company’s exposure in garden centres, almost doubling the number of its W-Select brokered retailers from 119 to 200 rooftops in twelve months (and this has since grown to 320 rooftops, £5M pa, and 21% of the business’s sales). In 2024, Woodmansterne was crowned the Garden Centre Association’s Supplier of the Year (all categories), beating the likes of £1B company Hozelock.
Despite being a publisher selling almost exclusively through bricks-and-mortar retail, the business successfully navigated Covid-19, and in 2023 was 84% larger than pre-Covid, and represented 15% of greeting card sales in the UK at retail. Requiring more space for its growing operations, in 2021 the company moved to an environmentally smart 88,000 sq ft warehouse in Milton Keynes overlooking the M1.
In 2024, Woodmansterne launched an innovative collection of Gift Packaging to disrupt the industry, while deepening retailers’ reliance on its products and services. In 2025, the business will undertake its biggest project yet, completing a £4M investment in growing its Print Production operations.
